OpenAvetmiss Vision – Free to choose and grow
The aim of OpenAvetmiss is to be the core application for RTOs to manage students. It is intended to encourage learning and innovation in the way that RTOs are able to run their businesses and meet their compliance requirements. Our desire is that in providing this freedom, RTOs are able to explore new opportunities and that the VET world is able to find new ways of working together.
It is envisaged that this software might encourage new ways to collaborate with each other. That the talk of working together will find a practical application in the way in which organisations contribute to this open source project.
Sometimes you have to begin with an idea and be willing to put your effort into that idea to see it come about. OpenAvetmiss has been a three year project and I sometimes wondered if it would ever get to the point where it could begin. Now this moment is here.
Managing your RTO your way
In creating this software the mission was to help people. I invited early investors in with the aim of helping their financial situation for the longer term. OpenAvetmiss is never intended to be a billion dollar company but it is intended to offer a solid business to business SAAS operating model and provide a consistent return for those who chose to believe in this project from the start.
OpenAvetmiss is about offering RTOs choices and freedom. Affordable means that the RTO stays in control of their business and have greater freedoms in choosing other options around their business.
How it works. The core package is very affordable at $100 per month. This means that you are able to get started as an RTO without a large monthly overhead to pay before you have even got started.
The core provides a basic functionality that is perfect for a startup RTO or a smaller RTO that has 50-100 students. Once you get bigger than that there will be some things that you may want to do more efficiently.
This is where the premium plugins come into play. An active premium list of features is essential for an open source project. This is shown to be a predictor of an open source project. OpenAvetmiss has already developed a number of features that are available at an increased cost but only need to pay when you think you need them.
The way ahead and future development
It’s envisaged that the following additional premium features will be developed:
- Instant enrolment
- Advanced reporting
- Classes
- Integrations
- Certificate generator
- Validation calendar
- Trainer’s competencies
Over the next 6 months it is hoped that this development that will encourage further innovation in the way OpenAvetmiss is used.
